Online Community Town Hall on 290-unit Mixed-Use Apartment Tower at 1056 S La Cienega Blvd.

Developers Carmel Partners will present plans to build a 28-Story Mixed Use Apartment Complex proposed at 1056 S. La Cienega Blvd. at an online Community Town Hall, Thursday, July 14 at 7 p.m.

South Carthay Neighborhood Association is hosting a virtual town hall this Thursday evening at 7p.m. where developers proposing to build a large mixed up apartment tower at 1056 S La Cienega Blvd, between Whitworth Drive and Olympic Blvd. on La Cienega Blvd. The proposed 28-story mixed use project is adjacent to South Carthay National Historic Area and HPOZ. The developers, Carmel Partners will be presenting their project.

Carmel Partners has recently completed Cumulus at 3321 South La Cienega near Jefferson Blvd along the Expo Line. The project is over 30 stories tall, has over 1,200 rental units and 100,000 square feet of retail space on the one acre site. Rents for a one bedroom units in ARQ, the 31-story tower, start  at $3,755, according to their website.

At 1056 South La Cienga, Carmel Partners plans to “employ Tier 3 Transit Oriented Communities incentives (TOC) permitting a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, 29 of the new homes – or 10 percent of the project total – would be set aside as deed-restricted affordable housing at the extremely low-income level,” according to Urbanize LA.

A neighborhood source told the Buzz that residents in the Carthay neighborhoods are very concerned about the proposed height and scale of the project. However, the source said that everyone would like to see the site, which has been an empty lot for nearly a decade changing hands over the years with various projects proposed, be developed.
