Designer clothing is coming to Larchmont with the opening of two new clothing stores. The first, Shopaholic Sample Sales is opening today…and Trina Turk will open next February.

On Friday, Buzz readers noticed a sign went up at 234 N Larchmont announcing that Shopaholic Sample Sales had taken the former Growze space. (Growze, the Japanese clothing label, relocated to 8384 Melrose Ave after five years on Larchmont.) When we peeked in, it looked like the store would be opening soon. As it turns out, it’s opening today!

“We’re so excited to be on Larchmont,” wrote Tina Hsiung in an email to the Buzz. “It’s on our third storefront in the Los Angeles area and we’ve been looking for the right Larchmont spot for us for about 3 years! :)”

In celebration of the opening weekend, the store will be serving Vita Coco drinks and desserts from Erin McKenna’s Bakery next door. They are also offering a free gift with purchase for the weekend “(while supplies last :)” and, according to Hsiung, ” – they’re actually awesome free gifts, too! :).” The store will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11am-7pm.

Shopaholic Sample Sales started in 2008 with the concept of offering women the opportunity to buy designer samples without the craziness of sample sales. Shopaholic Sample Sales started as a traveling sale. In 2010, the first Shopaholic Sample Sales opened at 8032 West 3rd Street followed by another location at 1613 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. Discounts range from 50 to 80% percent off retail prices.

Rumors had been circulating for a while, but this week the Buzz learned that designer Trina Turk is indeed opening a store on Larchmont. According to the company’s public relations firm, the new Trina Turk store will be opening in February of next year at 212-214 N Larchmont, the former locations of Hans Custom Optik and Pickett Fences respectively. (Picket Fences is now across the street at 219 N. Larchmont, and Hans Custom Optik is up the street, north of Beverly Blvd. at 419 N. Larchmont.) The store will be located next door to MAC Cosmetics, which has taken the former home of Crumbs Bakery at 216 N Larchmont and is also expected to open in the Spring of 2017.

Trina Turk was founded in 1995 by Turk and her husband, photographer Jonathan Skow, selling women’s contemporary women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, plus swimwear, recreation/activewear, a Mr Turk menswear line, and residential décor and textiles that celebrate the California lifestyle. Turk and her husband split their time between two historic, mid-century homes in Silver Lake and in Palm Springs.

The Trina Turk brand’s corporate headquarters, design and production are located in Alhambra, east of downtown Los Angeles. The first retail store opened in Palm Springs in 2002 and has since expanded to ten signature boutiques: Palm Springs, New York, Fashion Island in Newport Beach, Burlingame, Bal Harbour Shops in Miami, Dallas’ Highland Park Village, Atlanta’s Phipps Plaza, Manhattan Beach, Market Street in the Woodlands, Texas and Houston Galleria. There’s also an outlet store in South Pasadena.
