Twin Brothers Work Together as Lander Design

It’s pretty special to see two brothers working in business together, but when they make a team as smooth and similar looking as the twin brothers of Lander Design, you begin to see why it could just be a perfect partnership.

“We are kind of the yin and yang working together,” Scott shared. “Craig is the quieter one, he’s level-headed and easy. He’s great at client-relations.” He’s also the older brother, by a few minutes, who was involved in the telecommunications industry in the Pacific NW, and moved down to LA just two and a half years ago to work with his brother. Scott on the other hand, is the founder of the company,  the visionary with the creative spark that any good design needs, and the one with the more fiery personality.

Lander Design was featured earlier this month in an LA Times article about a renovation of the 1957 Thompson Residence in Pasadena, for which they received the Pasadena 2012 Preservation Award. Lander Design has also had their hands on a Richard Neutra residence. “We’re becoming quite well-known for our restoration work,” Scott noted. “Much of it is in the Hancock Park area – we’ve worked on many a batchelder fireplace.  But we’ve worked all over the city – we consider ourselves a boutique operation that specializes in historic and architectural properties.”

Some of the local houses they’ve touched include 400 S. Windsor Bl, and properties on Hudson, Arden and Longwood, to name a few. “We have lots of experience with local HPOZ’s,” Scott said. “We have an easy time getting HPOZ Board approvals as we’re usually bringing history back to the block, by bringing the house back to its original intentions.”

Lander Design works out of a south Highland Ave address, and the twin brothers can often be found on Larchmont Blvd when they head to Larchmont Wine and Cheese for a bite of lunch. They’re not hard to spot when they’re together – the easy compatibility and beaming bald heads make them a team that’s hard to miss.
