Looking at this clean, stark photograph, you might think that this image of a familiar building on Romaine at Sycamore dates from the 1930s. But it’s not – this shot of the stately Producer’s Film Library was taken by writer/photographer Andy Hurvitz just last month as he got out of his car and walked the industrial area tucked in between the looming Cemex cement facility on La Brea and the Anawalt Lumber on Highland.
Many of us drive through this tree-less area with nary a look at the elegance of the industrial structures, some built in the streamline moderne style, others in art deco. The simplicity of each shot, the lack of street clutter, and the crisp white of structures against dark skies make these photos a treat to view, and may give us some pause, the next time we drive – or walk – through the area.

Yep always been curious about the uniform company at Highland & Willoughby, great looking building & a survivor in the biz world too.
Thanks for your post. Much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Andy Hurvitz
