Calling All Bakers

You have just five more days to decide. Should you enter a pie for the 5th annual Good Food Pie Contest at LACMA on September 7th?

This year there are seven categories: Fruit, Nut, Cream/Chiffon/Silk, Savory, Vegan, and LACMA Art-Inspired Pie (get inspired by artwork in the museum’s collection). There will also be a kids category for bakers 12 and under.

The judges are pretty exciting, but the thing to remember is this is a real people event. You don’t have to be a polished pastry chef, you just need to sign up online, make an interesting (and delicious) pie, bring it to LACMA at 11 am on the day of the event, mingle with other pie makers from around Los Angeles, and serve it up to the lucky people who come as the first-come-first-served tasters. We hear it’s a folksy, fun, and super delicious way to spend the afternoon, for both bakers and tasters.

The signup to enter a pie closes September 1st, so if you have a knack for rolling out dough and filling it with something scrumptious, get your creative juices going and sign up now. There’s an added benefit – anyone wearing an apron to LACMA on the Good Food Pie Contest day, September 7th, gets free admission the museum all day.
