FIT4MOM Comes to Larchmont

A FIT4MOM stoller stride in action.

Last week I had the pleasure of chatting with Bethany Atkins, owner of FIT4MOM West Hollywood and fellow Larchmont mama. The Larchmont Moms Facebook group has already been buzzing with her posts of a new mommy-focused workout group. When I hopped on the phone with Atkins, it felt like chatting with an old friend: she was brimming with excitement over FIT4MOM and the amazing community she was building in our neighborhood. She is also a mom of a little girl my daughter’s age (wait, have we crossed paths at the park?).

FIT4MOM’s Bethany Atkins

When I asked why she wanted to bring FIT4MOM to Larchmont, the answer was easy: Atkins lives in the area and recalls walking down to Larchmont Village when her daughter was a baby, and the one thing that was consistent is that there were always moms. She wanted to take her expertise from running FIT4MOM WeHo and build a community of mommas in her own neighborhood. And she has done just that. FIT4MOM offers classes in the local park as well as virtual for every stage of motherhood.

FIT4BABY is her prenatal program that provides pregnancy-safe workouts as well as links soon-to-be mommas up with resources in the neighborhood such as pediatricians, sleep specialists, and more. FIT4BABY classes are designed to build strength, endurance, and flexibility throughout all trimesters.

Post-baby, moms can join Atkins’ Stroller Strides class that meets at Robert Burns park. The class currently consists of seven mothers who come for the workout and stay for the community of friends. Atkins starts each class with an ice breaker and has found over the years that her clients can always find common ground in motherhood. She encourages moms to come even if the baby doesn’t because “we really do get a good workout in!”. The 60 minute class focuses on total body conditioning and is sure to get your heart pumping and build endurance for everyday mom life (which we could all use).

If your children are aged out of strollers (like mine), Atkins has some fun things bubbling for the new year including Run Club+ and Body Well, a virtual program that consists of nutrition guides, HIIT workouts, and of course, accountability. She will also be hosting a Holiday Hustle HIIT program that runs for the four weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas for those that don’t want to wait till the ball drops to get moving on their fitness goals.

If you’d like to try out the FIT4MOM Stroller Strides class, Atkins offers a first class for free. And if you’re ready to get moving ASAP, strap on your sneakers and strap in your little one as she is bringing her troop of stroller striders to Larchmont this Thursday, November 11th. Meet them at 9:30am at the Bank of America on the South end of the boulevard for a fun class that will go for an hour and conclude with coffee at Groundworks.
