Several weeks ago, the neighborhood was buzzing when a local news helicopter made an emergency landing at the Wilshire Country Club in Hancock Park. We heard from tennis players at the nearby LA Tennis Club that it was quite a sight to see a chopper landing so close to the densely populated neighborhood.
According to residents, the chopper was in the air covering the protests around the area when the pilot determined it was necessary to make an emergency landing. Fortunately, the Wilshire Country Club golf course was available and wide open. Play has since resumed on the course, but at the time, it was closed to golfers in compliance with the City’s stay-at-home orders. Shortly after the chopper landed, another chopper arrived with a mechanic who was able to quickly address the problem.
It was quite a sight to see these aircraft up close in the later afternoon sun. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage, just some stunning images captured by Hancock Park resident Jenny Ratkovich from her family’s backyard, front row seat. Thanks to Jenny for sharing the photos with the Buzz.
