Patrick Rodriguez Passes Away

Patrick J. Rodriguez – August 29, 1973 to August 27, 2021.

Patrick J. Rodriguez, husband of former Buzz advertising director Kimberly Rudy, and son-in-law of the Larchmont Chronicle’s advertising director, Pam Rudy, passed away on August 27.  This obituary, provided by Kim, originally ran in the Sonora Union Democrat in Sonora, CA, where the family relocated in 2019.

Patrick J. Rodriguez, co-owner of the Bradford Place Inn & Gardens in Sonora, California, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 47. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kimberly Rudy, two sons, Grant, 14, and Cole, 10, brothers Michael and Christopher, and grandmother Frances M. Rodriguez.

Patrick was a passionate, talented, and immensely supportive husband, father, and artist. From pursuing meaningful relationships, coaching his sons’ baseball teams, being Cub Scout Den Leader, to creating his own artistic projects, he did not ever settle for mediocrity – to Patrick, all was possible, and he dreamed on a grand scale.

Patrick grew up in the Bay Area, graduating Santa Clara University in 1996. He continued training, and working, in his chosen field of Graphic Arts throughout his life. He worked at numerous entertainment companies including Lucas Film Animation, Walt Disney Imagineering, Sony, Dreamworks Animation, Spielberg, and The Third Floor. Patrick also taught Graphic Arts programs at Otis, the Art Directors Guild, Microdesk, Studio Arts, Disney, and was a frequent guest speaker for a colleague’s class at Art Center in Pasadena. He was also active as Treasurer of the Illustrators and Matte Artists craft, within the Art Directors Guild in Los Angeles.

Whatever Patrick undertook, he brought his passion, perseverance, talent, and smile to the task. Although gone from sight and sound, Patrick will live on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends, whose lives he impacted deeply.

A memorial/funeral service was held on September 15 at St. Patrick’s Church in Sonora.
