Stars Not Just in the Skies Sat Night in Windsor Village

Lights and Luminaries were big at the Wilshire Ebell Theater on Saturday

There was a lot happening where Windsor Village and Windsor Square meet on Wilshire Blvd Saturday night, as a one-night production of “8” was staged to benefit the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the nonprofit behind the court case against Proposition 8. Originally billed as a production featuring George Clooney, who no-doubt used his star power to invite other key performers, the show eventually included no less than 20 actors, and was helmed by director Rob Reiner reading the play scripted by Dustin Lance Black (Milk, J. Edgar.)

For a look at the inside story, the LA Times featured two pieces about the event in Monday’s edition. The event truly was star-studded and the paparazzi were in full force outside the theater trying to catch a glimpse of Clooney, Brad Pitt, Martin Sheen, Kevin Bacon, John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Christine Lahti, Maggie Gallagher and Matt Bomer, among others.

In this era of quick dissemination, the show in its 2 hour entirety can already be viewed online at YouTube (link below.)  It’s already had some 277,000 views, so “8” is obviously reaching much wider than our local neighborhood and the Wilshire Ebell Theater.
