Fortunately, we are far enough away from the fires in San Bernardino to avoid a smoke advisory, but the evidence of the nearby fires can be seen in the air and on the ground. Last night’s spectacular sunset was due to all the particulates in the air. Today, ash can be found on the ground and virtually any horizontal surface. While there’s no smoke advisory for our neighborhoods, residents should be use caution if you’re planning to be outside today.
A wildfire, named the Holy Fire, is burning to the east of Trabuco Canyon near the border of Orange County and Riverside County within the Cleveland National Forest.The burn area is currently reported at approximately 18,000 acres with five percent containment. Winds will be from the west/southwest today before transitioning to a southerly wind during the overnight hours. During the overnight and early morning hours, downslope winds may bring smoke and ash into the valleys adjacent to the fire, according to the Southern California Air Quality Management District.
Overall, meteorological conditions may bring smoke into portions of Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County. Air quality may reach Unhealthy levels or higher in areas directly impacted by smoke.
