A burglary on the 100 North block of Plymouth Boulevard mid-day on Wednesday escalated when the homeowner returned home while the burglary was in progress. LAPD’s Olympic Division arrived at the home within minutes of receiving the 911 call. However, the suspect had fled the scene with stolen property.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect heading north on Windsor Boulevard towards Melrose. The 300/400 North blocks of Windsor were cordoned off while the LAPD searched for the suspect. Currently, the suspect – a male Latino – is still at large.
This incident serves to remind area residents to heed the advice of Senior Lead Officer Joseph Pelayo:
- Lock and secure your home before you leave. Even if you are going out for just a short period of time.
- make sure that both windows and doors are locked.
- if you have an alarm, be sure to arm it.
- Report suspicious activity. You know your neighbors and will have a general idea of people who seem out of place. If you see suspicious activity, dial 911 or use the 1–877-ASK-LAPD (1-877-275-5273) service.
And while we are at it…did you know that 60% of car break-ins in our area happen to cars that are unlocked? This is an incredible statistic. Be sure to lock your car and take your valuables with you when you leave.
