CD4 Race Still Undecided – Raman Leads Ryu by 4.8%

By late Thursday, Nithya Raman was leading incumbent City Councilmember David Ryu by 4.8 percentage points in the Los Angeles City Council District 4 race. More votes remain to be counted.

The race for Los Angeles City Council District 4 is still undecided, with neither candidate claiming victory or conceding. Both campaigns are waiting for all the votes to be counted before making any official announcements.  As of last night, there are still 791,200 outstanding ballots in LA County, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean C. Logan, who announced the second post-election results update late Thursday evening.

At that time, Nithya Raman was leading incumbent Councilmember David Ryu by 4.8 percentage points. Raman has 61,183 votes to Ryu’s 55,581 votes, according to live results posted on the county’s election website LAVote.net,

This update includes The update includes 156,410 Vote by Mail ballots processed since Election Night, and consists of ballots received since Sunday, November 1, via USPS or dropped off at a drop box or Vote Center.

The number of uncounted ballots has actually increased from the 618,200 reported on Wednesday…and some do include the Council District 4 race. But information on how many of those ballots are from CD4 voters is not yet available. Election officials told the Buzz they will provide that information once the election is certified. A preliminary report of ballots cast on election day by precinct was released November 4 and can be found at LAVote.net,

To date, the total ballot count is now 3,538,953, which is 61.98% of eligible Los Angeles County voters.  More results are expected to be released on Friday, November 6,  between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., according to the election canvas schedule.
