Congratulations to Chevalier’s Books, which celebrated 75 years in business on Larchmont Boulevard Wednesday night.
CD4 Council member David Ryu presented owners Bert Deixler and Daryl Holter with a proclamation from the City of Los Angeles to mark the occasion. Â It read:
The City of Los Angeles  salutes  Chevalier’s Books on their momentous 75th anniversary. This glorious independent bookstore, and the books and events within, have amazed and inspired countless patrons, and in the process changed and brightened hearts, minds and lives. The City furthermore honors all in the community who have embraced and contributed to the unique culture of Chevalier’s Books – as well as the tremendously helpful staff – who for generations past,  and generations to come, have made Chevalier’s Books an utterly essential centerpiece of Southern California’s capacity [to] learn, reason, share and read. Through steadfast ways and caring deeds, Chevalier’s Books has made the City of Los Angeles a better place in which to live. December 3, 2015. Signed by David E. Ryu, Councilmember 4th District and Herb J. Wesson, Jr. President, L.A. City Council.
