A fire broke out in a second-floor apartment on the 500 block of North Rossmore Ave. early Wednesday morning, causing congestion on the busy arterial street in Hancock Park, and concern from neighbors. Fortunately the female resident of the apartment was not harmed, though her dog died in the blaze.

The Los Angeles Fire Department quickly knocked down the fire which began at 12:20 am and did not spread to other units in the building. Significant smoke damage is expected. The fire is under investigation by the LAFD.
