Nurse Vanessa Greene and her team are at the Ebell of Los Angeles’s East parking lot at Lucerne and Wilshire today until 5 p.m., offering free PCR COVID tests, with results expected back within 24 to 36 hours. The volume of testing is causing some delays, but Green said she is hopeful results will be back within 24 hours for most people.
There’s plenty of parking in the Ebell’s east parking lot on Lucerne Blvd just south of Wilshire, and plenty of space for everyone to spread out.
“We are so delighted to be able to offer the service to the community,” Executive Director Stacy Brightman told the Buzz. “It’s part of our tradition of partnering with the community and providing a service to our neighbors.” Brightman also said she hopes the Ebell will be able to host a regular testing site moving forward.
During World War II, Ebell members rolled bandages for the Red Cross during World War II and often hosted USO dances, explained Donna Russell, Ebell board member and volunteer usher at the testing site.
Erika Newman was helping out, too, on her first day as the Ebell’s Theatre Business Coordinator.
The testing itself is very quick and easy, but registering for the test has caused some hiccups for some people. Be sure to bring your cell phone, as online registration is required, using the scan code at the testing site.
A couple of questions on the registration form seem to be causing some confusion, too. For the testing location, choose Marina del Rey…and it’s OK to pick any testing time since there are no formal appointments.
Also, another key is to not click “submit” repeatedly or the system will kick you out, Greene explained to people waiting in line. And if the submission doesn’t go through, scroll back up to see which fields are missing.
The online registration and record keeping is important for obvious reasons, but definitely a bit of a hassle.
Greene will be at the Ebell until 5 p.m. today, and then tomorrow – since the Ebell lot is booked for filming on Thursday – she will return to Larchmont Blvd., with her more specific location TBD.
