According to residents of Windsor Village and NBC4, former Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo and his family escaped an overnight fire in their home on South Windsor Boulevard and 8th Street early Saturday morning. Luckily, Delgadillo was awakened by smoke alarms and he and his wife were able to get their children, a friend of the family, and their pets out of the house.

The fire was reported at 2:52am Saturday morning and was knocked down by LAFD by 3:08am. The heavy billowing smoke and flames leaping out of windows and the front door was a frightening sight for neighbors on the street and a shocking reminder to make sure one’s smoke alarms are armed with fresh batteries. “Make sure your batteries are fine in your smoke alarm, because that’s what woke me up,” Delgadillo told news reporters.

The Delgadillo family was treated at Cedars Sinai Hospital and reportedly are all okay.
