Kip’s Toyland, LA’s oldest toy store, is re-opening at the Original Farmers Market starting today.

While many merchants at the Original Farmers Market have been open since Mayor Eric Garcettii issued the Safer-At-Home Order in Mid March, many of the retailers have been closed. However, with the Mayor’s latest order allowing retailers to open for curbside pick up, we are starting to see more stores opening again.

“It’s exciting to see the first wave of stores opening up,” Ilysha Buss, Director of Marketing at The Original Farmers Market, A.F. Gilmore Company, told the Buzz. “We are hoping to see more shops opening soon.”

Family owned and operated for more than 70 years, Kip’s Toyland is a wonderland of imaginative, fun toys, games, dolls, puzzles, costumes stuffed animals, and much more — no electronic toys allowed! With the help of his daughter Lily, store owner Don Kipper, carries on the legacy that his late father, Irvin Kipper, started upon returning home from WWII — celebrating the joy of good, old-fashioned play!

Magee’s Kitchen and House of Nuts are also re-opening. Best known for their roast or corned beef, tempting turkey and marvelous ham platters, Magee’s has been a staple in the Los Angeles Farmers Market since its opening in 1934.

“The nut butter machine is back on at Magee’s House of Nuts too!” added Buss. “The fresh nut butters are scrumptious and, if your timing is right, you can watch the machine which makes fresh peanut butter work its magic.”

Magee’s offers a wide, superior variety of nuts has been a tradition for decades. Pecans, walnuts, macadamias and several varieties of peanuts are all available by weight or in charming gift boxes.

And the Tea Shoppe has also reopened, with 200+ varieties of tea to choose from, including boba tea.

Finally, Marmalade Café reopened just in time for Mother’s Day, offering family-style meals to go and wines.
