Thursday is a special day at LAPD’s Olympic Community Station. The entire Olympic Division Team is working to make the holidays brighter for children who live in the community and are in need of what most of us consider to be the most basic of needs.
For the past several years, Olympic Division has organized Operation Shoes From Santa – a holiday shoe drive delivering shoes to needy kids at the Police Station’s annual holiday party. And although the community continues to step up in more and more generous ways, this year the demand is bigger than ever. The Officers at LAPD tweeted out a last minute call for help – including a list of the boys and girls shoe sizes that they still need.

Here is a list of what is needed:
- Size 9C – Boys 11 pairs
- Size 10C – Boys 15 pairs
- Size 12C – Boys 10 pairs
- Size 13C – Boys 31 pairs
- Size 1 Â – Boys 15 pairs
- Size 1 – Girls 13 pairs
- Size 2 – Boys 10 pairs
- Size 3 – Boys 17 pairs
- Size 3 – Girls 18 pairs
- Size 4 – Girls 8 pairs
Larchmont Buzz is accepting the challenge! We are committing to heading over to Target or Payless Shoes and buying 5 pairs of sneakers that we’ll drop off to the LAPD Olympic Station on Thursday morning. If anyone else wants to join us, you can drop off your shoe donation to us on Thursday morning between 8am-8:30am at Le Pain Quotidien on Larchmont. We will deliver all the shoes we collect to SLO Officer Pelayo at LAPD’s Olympic Station.
A special shout out to Olympic SLO Heidi Stoecklein, SLO Eric Mollinedo and SLO Joe Pelayo for their hard work and dedication to this effort. They have organized many local businesses around this donations – including: Â Vlado Shoes, Wilshire Rotary, La Brea Bakery, Warehouse Shoes, Chinese Laundry, Home Depot and more.
All are welcome to join in the celebration this Thursday, December 12 at 5pm at Olympic Station on Vermont, south of Olympic Boulevard (1130 South Vermont).
