Lip Lab Closes Larchmont Location, Moving to Irvine Spectrum

Lip Lab, at 142 N. Larchmont Blvd., has closed and is relocating to Irvine Spectrum.

Lip Lab officially closed its Larchmont location (142 N. Larchmont Blvd.) at the end of June. The custom-made lipstick company will be opening a new location at Irvine Spectrum, according to store manager Marie Chan Konya.

“We will be celebrating our Grand Opening this weekend on Friday July 10th!” Chan Konya told the Buzz.  She also shared a Grand Opening invitation and promotion card with us, to share with Buzz readers.

The boutique opened on Larchmont in the summer of 2018, after Landis Labyrinth consolidated its stores (moving from three storefronts to two). Lip Lab customers were invited to create their own lipstick colors, mixed just for them by store staff. The Canadian company was founded in 2009 by Susanne Langmuir, who decided to create her own products after struggling to find natural cosmetics .

The storefront has been closed since the Safer-At-Home orders were issued in mid-March.

Lip Lap is now the third empty storefront in the larger Lipson building, with the second Landis Labyrinth store shuttered a few weeks ago and the Bonne Chance clothing store vacant since early 2019.  The steady loss of tenants could mean that new owner Christina Development, which purchased the building nearly two years ago, is gradually emptying the premises. We’ve also heard from several Larchmont observers over the past several months that the owners are not offering new leases to current tenants, or lease extensions past December 2020. When the Buzz interviewed Christina Development representatives recently, about their plans to renovate the building, they did not say when construction would start; only that they would be working on spaces as they became vacant.
