Mo:Vint Clothing, at 137 1/2 Larchmont Blvd., is closed. The New York City-based clothing company opened the boutique on Larchmont in 2016 as its first Los Angeles retail space. The name is derived from a combination of MO:dern and VINT:age (hence Mo:Vint), but the clothing concept never seemed to click with locals.
The store was among those vandalized during the protests last May, when the windows were smashed but not much was stolen, according to the owner. It re-opened shortly thereafter.
We reached out to the owner and corporate home office to learn more about the closure, but haven’t heard back yet. The company’s Pasadena shop is also closed, and there hasn’t been much activity on its social media channels either, as far as we could tell. So maybe the closure had more to do with the trends in women’s fashions than general retail. Whatever the reason, it’s sad to report the loss of another retail shop on Larchmont.
I loved MoVint! Many of the clothes were too small for me, but I still bought a few things there. My daughter loved it. I’ll be sad to see it go.
