Earlier this week, a Nazi flag constructed of black and red colored tape appeared on the Fairfax Blvd. fence surrounding LACMA and the Academy Museum. The flag was spotted by security staff and was removed by 8 a.m, according to an article published by the Shalhevet High School newspaper, The Boiling Point.

“The swastika, which would have been visible to anyone driving by, was photographed by passing drivers at the northwestern edge of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which occupies the actual corner of the two streets. When Boiling Point reporters arrived at 10 a.m., the swastika was gone, but a loose piece of red tape was visible on the sidewalk and another small piece was still present on one of the fence’s metal bars,” wrote Tali Liebenthal, Boiling Point co-editor-in-chief, in a story published on February 13.

Police arrived on the scene at about 10:30 a.m. and said they had filed the incident as a hate crime, reported The Boiling Point. (photo from The Boiling Point)
