Tonight: A Chance to Learn About “The Plan to House LA”

Last week the City of Los Angeles released a draft of the Plan to House LA, or – as it’s more formally known – the 2021-2029 update to the Housing Element of the city’s General Plan. This is the portion of the city’s top-level planning document that deals specifically with rules and policies for housing.  According to the city, the Plan to House LA “identifies Los Angeles’s housing needs and establishes clear goals and objectives to inform future policy considerations. When the update is completed, the Housing Element will guide the creation and implementation of the City’s housing policy from 2021 to 2029.”

In addition, the City has also released two more key planning documents: a draft of the Safety Element, which “details Los Angeles’ strategy to prevent, respond to, and recover from disaster events,” and a list of amendments to the Plan for a Healthy LA (the Health and Wellness Element of the General Plan), to “better illustrate the city’s approach to disaster management and resilience.”   (A shorter summary of Safety and Health amendments, which includes Frequently Asked Questions, is also available.)

For those who would like to learn more about either or both of these important policy documents, and to find out how you can comment on the documents before they are formally adopted, there will be two online webinars this month, the first of which takes place tonight:
