Late Tuesday afternoon, police were called to a residence in the Ridgewood-Wilton neighborhood when a homeowner reported a burglary of weapons. It seems the victim thought the burglar was in the home, one of two on the property, and police activated a SWAT team response.

CBS Channel 2 News broadcast a story as the incident was unfolding. At that point, LAPD was just arriving on the scene.

Local resident Debi King told the Buzz the response was an over-abundance of caution, with officers concerned for the welfare of nearby neighbors. Officers escorted King into her house when she came home from work, and then back out when she decided to wait the situation out at another neighbor’s house nearby, since King’s home was adjacent to the house that was burglarized.

After more than four hours, the police swept the area with armed officers and police dogs, and concluded the suspect was not in the home. The only items stolen from the home were the weapons. No one was injured in the incident, and no arrests have been made yet.
