Power Outages in Hancock Park

LADWP crews have been responding to power outages all over the city due the recent rains. Since the rains started on Saturday morning, LADWP has worked to restore power to 41,186 customers in 386 incidents, according to LADWP spokesman Jason Stinnett.

On Sunday, crews were working on a major outage in the Miracle Mile area. LADWP tweeted “crews have isolated a section where several spans of wire are down and estimate repairs will be completed by noon. We are so sorry for the challenges our customers have been facing and want to remind all to stay clear of any downed wires. -CH”

Yesterday, residents in Hancock Park reported to the Buzz they were experiencing low power and, later, a complete power outage on the 100 South block of McCadden Place. Power was restored around 10 pm last night.  We also heard reports that residents in the 400 block of June street were without power early this morning, but neither of those outages appeared on the power outage map on the LADWP website.

Stinnett told the Buzz the DWP doesn’t reduce power to customers as a matter of policy, but power flow can fluctuate when they are making repairs. He also explained that the outage map doesn’t always show every incident they are working on, especially if they are deluged with service requests.  But he said they’re working on improving the software. For example, he told us crews were working on restoring power to residents in the 400 block of North Mansfield.

Outages were also reported in Brookside on Nextdoor.com earlier this week and last weekend…but as of today, there are only 10 residents without power in the Mid-Wilshire area, according to Stinnett. Residents in a service area where the power was out and are still experiencing an outage should check their circuit breaker, Stinnett said. If that’s not the problem, they should report the outage directly to DWP at 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397).

Fortunately, sunny skies are headed our way, which should give weary LADWP crews and residents a much needed break from the rain.
