Yesterday, more than a million people around the globe, many of them inspired by 16-year-old climate change activist Greta Thunberg, joined in a Global Climate Strike to advocate for action to combat climate change. Thousands of Angelenos joined in at several locations, with the largest rally in downtown’s Pershing Square. There, as with many of the other gatherings around the world, many of the participants were also very young – children, teens and adults who skipped work and/or school to attend the event. (In fact, many schools both allowed their students’ attendance and were represented by faculty and staff as well.) Buzz sustainability reporter Dan Kegel and Miracle Mile resident Carole Silverstein shared some of their photos of the event with us.
