Stratford School is opening a new preschool through 6th grade school at 1200 Cahuenga Blvd and is welcoming prospective students and their parents to an open house on Saturday, Feb. 20, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

“We’re a brand new school, we’ve got lots of classrooms to fill,” Candi Schreuders of Stratford School told the Buzz. There is space for approximately 360 students; two classes for the preschool and kindergarten then one class for each grade.

Stratford started in Silicon Valley in 1999 and now operates 18 school schools. The Hollywood campus is one of two it is opening in Los Angeles this year; the other is located in Pasadena. Stratford blends the traditional academic approach in a collaborative environment.

“We focus on giving students the skills they will need, like brainstorming, problem-solving and the ability to work in teams,” said Schreuders.

According to the website, Stratford Schools offer an accelerated curriculum from preschool through eighth grade with an emphasis in the areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). The program incorporates music, physical education, foreign language, and social skills development. Stratford’s goal is to prepare and mentor students for admission to competitive high schools and colleges.

Parents and their students are invited to the open house on Saturday to learn more about the newest school in the neighborhood. Click here for more information and to register for the Open House.
