Suspect Arrested in Mid-Wilshire Homicide

A homicide occurred near Ridgeley and Wilshire on Thursday.  The two individuals involved apparently knew each other, and may both have been homeless. Police have the suspect in custody.

News of a homicide in Mid-Wilshire yesterday traveled quickly through the neighborhood. Later in the day, Captain Shannon Paulson, Commanding Officer of  LAPD Wilshire Division, sent a message to residents explaining that incident took place in the area of Ridgeley Drive and Wilshire Boulevard near the Ralph’s grocery store. In her message, Paulson said the incident involved a dispute between two parties who knew each other. The suspect was described as a white female, approximately 60 years of age, who fled from the scene but was spotted hours later by patrol officers and taken into custody without incident.

In her initial report, Paulson said police believe both the victim and the suspect are homeless, but she could not confirm they had been living at this location or, if so, for how long.  According to witnesses, the suspect, now identified as Eva Fekete, 60, was fairly well known by several people in the area. She is being held on $2,000,000.00 bail, Paulson told the Buzz this morning.

Local news reported the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. and the victim died of a gunshot wound at a local hospital. Police have not yet confirmed the victim’s identity.
