Uncool Burgers Moving to West Hollywood

Uncool Burgers is leaving Larchmont for West Hollywood.

Uncool Burgers at 139 1/2 N. Larchmont is now closed. According to a sign posted on its window, the restaurant is moving to West Hollywood so it can “sell burgers with booze.”

The restaurant’s social media team told us, in answer to our inquiry, “Our reasoning for relocating is pretty simple! We found a great new space that comes with a liquor license and allows us to serve food and alcohol till 2 a.m., which has always been part of our vision for the restaurant! We’re not trying to become a bar but this new source of revenue helps offset the cost of everything else AND offers our guests an even better experience! We loved being part of the Larchmont neighborhood! Hope you guys will check us out in West Hollywood! ❤️”

Uncool Burgers opened in June last year, during the pandemic. Owner Josh Pourgol told us at the time he’d been planning to make the change from Bardonna, a coffee spot, to Uncool Burgers for quite some time.

“We closed in mid-March and have been working on the space,” said Pourgol at the time, saying he thought the timing was right for mid-market, fast casual restaurants that offer good, fun food at a reasonable price. The restaurant also closed for a short time last December, but now it seems Uncool Burgers  will be leaving the street for good, though Pourgol will still be operating Tacos Tu Madre on the boulevard.

Operating a restaurant is notoriously difficult, but the last 18 months have been especially challenging. As we learned from Joanna Vernetti, co-owner of Vernetti’s Restaurant, during the third Larchmont 2021 Community Conversation, serving alcohol can often be the difference between staying open or going under, so it’s not surprising that a lease with later hours and an alcohol license would be compelling.

The folks at Uncool Bergers weren’t ready to share their new address yet. We checked around a bit, but haven’t heard any rumors about who might take their space.
