Updated Election Results; Leads Grows for Yaroslavsky and Soto-Martinez; Caruso’s Lead Over Bass Narrows

Updated election results were released Late Thursday but there are still an estimated 883,300 ballots that remain to be counted, according to election officials.


Updated results released late Thursday afternoon by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) show candidates Katy Young Yaroslavsky and Hugo Soto-Martinez increasing their leads against their opponents in our local City Council races while Rick Caruso’s lead over Karen Bass in the mayoral contest is narrowing.

In the CD 5 contest, Yaroslavsky’s lead has increased. She’s now 6,596 votes ahead of Sam Yebri, up from just over 5,000 votes ahead on Election night.



In CD13, Soto-Martinez’s lead over incumbent Mitch O’Farrell has grown to 2,158 from  just over 1,500.



And in the Mayor’s race, Caruso’s lead over Bass has shrunk to 2,695 votes from 12,282 votes reported in the first round of results.







In other races we have reported on, including City Attorney, Hydee Feldstein Soto continues her strong lead over Faisal Gill, and current District 5 City Councilmember Paul Koretz has conceded the election for City Controller to Kenneth Mejia.



Meanwhile, the LA County Third Supervisorial District race has tightened. State Senator Bob Hertzberg is now leading West Hollywood City Councilmember Lindsey Horvath by just 1,646 votes, down from 4,000 votes on election night.


And in the race for State Assembly, Rick Zbur has a strong 8,479 vote lead over Louis Abramson.



This latest update includes 134,099 ballots processed since Election Night. The total election count is now 1,452,192 ballots, which represents 25.80% of registered voters. There are still an estimated 883,300 ballots that remain to be counted.  These include:

Vote by Mail ballots (VBM): 862,000
Conditional Voter Registration ballots: 21,000
Provisional ballots: 300

As we reported yesterday, county officials expect the number of outstanding Vote by Mail ballots to increase as the RR/CC continues to accept ballots that were postmarked by Election Day and which may be received through Tuesday, November 15.

The ballot count will be updated again on Friday, November 11. More updates will be provided the following Tuesday, then Friday. And more updates will be scheduled if needed.
