Imagine LA Welcomes George Phillips to Board, Rebecca Hutchinson Joins Staff

George Phillips joins Imagine LA board and Rebecca Hutchinson joins staff.

Imagine LA, the non profit helping families out of homelessness through mentoring, announced Hancock Park residents George Phillips was joining their Board of Directors and Larchmont Village resident Rebecca Hutchinson will join their professional staff as Vice President, Communications & Development.

George Phillips is a native Angeleno, Certified Public Accountant and attorney who has practiced law in Downtown Los Angeles for more than 25 years. Phillips founded Wilshire Softball, a softball league for girls ages 6-14 in the Mid-City of Los Angeles.

“After investigating private sector responses to homelessness, I learned about Imagine LA and the great work it has been doing,”Phillips said. “I was particularly drawn to its unique, impactful mentorship model, and its focus on families with children. I am hopeful that I can contribute to Imagine LA’s expansion within the community and positively impact many families’ lives.”

Phillips’ family firm, Phillips Law Partners LLP, specializes in Trust and Estates litigation and planning, business litigation, real estate and business law. He acts as outside general counsel for many closely held companies and farming concerns, and is involved in succession planning as well as sophisticated estate planning. His firm also has a tax compliance department that augments its legal practice.

On top of his legal and tax expertise, Phillips is an experienced real estate broker, developer and investor as well as a gentleman farmer who owns and manages a farm operation in the Coachella Valley. He is actively involved in his church and community and has served on various boards and committees of the United Armenian Congregational Church, the Merdinian Armenian School and the Los Angeles Tennis Club. He currently serves on the development committee of the Armenian Missionary Association of America, and on the board of Camp Arev, a Christian camping ministry.

Rebecca Hutchinson has joined the Imagine LA professional staff as Vice President, Communications & Development where she will oversee communications, development and Imagine LA’s community engagement efforts. Prior to joining the staff, Hutchinson served as consultant for the past year. Over her 25-year career in public relations, marketing communications and grassroots outreach,Hutchinson has advised clients ranging from start-ups to government agencies, non-profits and consumer product companies. She has held leadership roles and managed new business development at LA and DC offices of a top global PR firm and at two LA-based lifestyle firms. In addition to work at Imagine LA, Hutchinson will continue to serve as Co-Executive Director for the Larchmont Business Improvement District.

An East Coast transplant, Hutchinson has been a proud Angeleno since moving here to earn her M.A. in Communications Management from the Annenberg School at USC in the ‘90s. She volunteers with her daughters’ schools and sports teams and Planned Parenthood, and leads strategic planning for The Ebell of Los Angeles. One of her proudest achievements is co-founding Larchmont Charter School, which her daughters attended and where she still serves on the Board.

Imagine LA will be honoring tennis star Serena Williams for her philanthropic work at their annual Imagine LA Ball on September 23rd. Williams is currently winning her way through the U.S. Open underway in New York. Tickets to the ball are expected to sell out early assuring that Imagine LA will reach their fundraising targets enabling them to support more families.
