The Ebell Rest Cottage Association (RCA) received a surprise gift of $10,000 from Ebell member Olivia Headley, who presented the donation last month at the luncheon celebrating the RCA’s 100th anniversary of providing support for women in the Los Angeles community.

“We are thrilled to have this donation from Olivia and it is all the more meaningful because she has been a valued member of the Ebell and the Rest Cottage for many years,” said RCA Chair Randi Jones of Windsor Square, who accepted the donation from Headley and her husband Tim Mosman’s foundation.

The donation will be added to the RCA endowment, now valued at almost $3 million dollars,  that was established in 1980 with proceeds from the sale of the original “rest cottage” properties where Ebell members once cared for each other in times of need.

Last year, the RCA gave grants to 10 social services organizations helping women and their children each $10,000. At the 100th anniversary luncheon, Jones presented each organization with an additional grant of $2,000 as part of the celebration before in turn receiving the surprise gift from Headley, a lifetime member of the Ebell. Headley, who is a nationally known parliamentarian, joined the Ebell in 1997 and has served  numerous leadership positions including Finance Chair of the Ebell Board in 2007-2008.

The donation will assist RCA in its mission to help women and children in need. Headley is particularly interested in assisting victims of domestic violence, a leading cause of injury to women in the United States—more than car accidents, muggings, and rape combined.
