Paula Carlotto’s Alegria Bazaar has opened a pop-up shop on Larchmont Blvd., in the Marcie Bronkar space at 128 N Larchmont Blvd., though July.  Carlotto is known to neighbors from her many years selling hand-made jewelry at the Larchmont Farmer’s Market from her colorful van. She lives in the neighborhood and her daughter attends Larchmont Charter School, where her former husband, chef Robertino Giovannelli, provides lunches.
Alegria Bazaar is Carlotto’s showcase for her handmade jewelry, as well as crystals and essential healing oils and herbs. She’s also planning to feature work of other local artists, predominately women. Currently she has a selection of dream catchers featuring Malibu based Dream Halos by Marie K’Noss, crafted from fabric and wood. Starting this Sunday, Carlotto is also hosting a floral designer to create flower arrangements during the Farmer’s Market.
Carlotto started selling jewelry while she was working as a chef at La Luna on Larchmont.
“Customers would ask me about my jewelry,” said Carlotto. “By the end of the evening, I would have sold everything I had on.”
Couture fabric designer Marcie Bronkar invited Carlotto to feature her work in the space.
“I’ve always been a fan of Paula’s jewelry,” said Bronkar, “Paula has a great eye and I’m thrilled to bring her style and sensibility to the space.”
Bronkar has used the space to host her own work. She’s created a gallery space for a while and last month featured clothing designer AELLA.
“I am trying to create the feeling of discovery and fun in the space,” said Bronkar. “Similar to the sensibility of Henri Bendel in New York where you would walk in and find fabulous one of a kind items.”
