Recent Passings: Jo Breen, Norma McIntyre, Wilson Fitzgerald

Jo Breen, Norma McIntyre, and Wilson Fitzgerald have recently passed away.

Three well-known residents of Hancock Park have passed away recently.

Two of the recent obituaries were shared this month in the Hancock Park Garden Club’s Leaflet newsletter:

“Jo Breen passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on January 2nd. She was a real gardener – liked getting her hands dirty and tended well her imaginative and verdant garden. Active on the horticulture committee, Jo was also very involved in numerous HPGC plant sales and loved selecting and planting the pots that would eventually be sold. She was real spunky and often wore blue jeans as she inspired others to get involved and plant! She had a full family life with six children and 16 grandchildren who loved her dearly.

Norma McIntyre passed away Dec 28th and will be remembered as one of the most elegant garden club members to have graced our meetings. She was very generous, shared her extensive yard and home on the golf course for meetings, parties and two of the extensive plant sales the club held over the years. Norma had five children and seven grandchildren who she surrounded with love, in addition to her devoted pets.”

And this remembrance of longtime Los Angeles Tennis Club member Wilson Fitzgerald was shared by the club:

“During his 20 years with LATC Wilson captured our hearts and became our very own King of the Courts. Wilson celebrated his 90th birthday on July 6th via Zoom with his LATC family and friends.

Wilson passed away peacefully following a brief stay at the hospital. He asked his doctors to relay:” I am working hard to get back out on the courts”. Wilson requested his LATC jacket while in the hospital, and fell asleep each night with his hand on his tennis racket .

The outpouring of love expressed on cards and drawings created by member children made Wilson know that he was surrounded by his LATC family.”

Our deepest condolences to their families and friends.
