About two dozen cyclists from all over CD4 gathered on Thursday evening to tour the Hancock Park area with Councilman Tom LaBonge. The group of light-hearted and strong-limbed enthusiasts started off from Shatto Park at Vermont and Fourth and wound its way west over pot-holed but relatively quiet Fourth Street (a designated bike route) into Windsor Square where they stopped to meet Mayor Villaraigosa in front of the mayoral residence on Irving.
Accompanied by a police escort, which occasionally used its very loud siren to block busy intersections for the bikers, the Tour LaBonge rode through the Brookside, Sycamore Square, Mid-Wilshire and Hancock Park communities before heading back at dusk to Shatto Park.
