Subject Line: Redistricting Process Threatened by City Council Members!

Dear Council member_____________,

I am a long-time resident of Hancock Park located in Greater Wilshire. I have followed the recent Redistricting process closely and participated in most of the hearings.

I strongly protest this week’s motion by Council President Martinez and Council Members Raman and Krekorian. Their motion denigrates and proposes to undo months of transparent work. The months-long Redistricting Commission efforts were conducted in full public view and with unprecedented public participation. However, it appears that in 2021, some elected officials feel at liberty to say whatever they want, with no regard for the truth.

The Redistricting Commission created their final approved map with unprecedented transparency, public input and public line drawing and I demand the City Council to do the same as the map now moves to you for final approval. No closed door backroom deals! The process does not exist to protect existing elected officials or to allow them to gerrymander the City in a manner that would carve out seats to favor the election of their partisan friends. Los Angeles needs smart problem solvers, not entitled kings and queens.

Sincerely,
