Effective August 28th, LADOT began issuing citations to people who park their car on the driveway apron. According to Councilman Tom La Bonge’s office, this enforcement is part of an effort to keep sidewalks accessible to all people, following provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Tickets for apron parking will be $58, and if a resident receives more than five citations, the vehicle will be towed, according to LADOT.
Evidently the LA City Council is working on a new policy regarding driveway aprons. Something more permanent should be structured by early October. For now, tickets will be issued for this violation. In the past, tickets have been issued if the car is on the sidewalk. Now it’s either way – on the sidewalk or strictly on the apron.
