Tragic Accident Kills a Hancock Park Neighbor Outside of Synagogue

A tragic accident outside Bais Yeshuda Shul on the corner of La Brea and Oakwood claimed the life of Berish Landau, 88.  His friend and temple member Rabbi Shmuel Jacobs, 50, was also injured and was listed in critical condition.  The men were hit at approximately 6:20am by a car as they attempted to cross La Brea after morning services at the Synagogue.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the people involved.

Note the comments of the KCBS article…a witness to the tragedy (J.S.) writes about the quick response of the Hatzolah of Los Angeles.  The volunteer EMTs were on scene within 30 seconds performing CPR.  A heartfelt shout out to these volunteers.  We see their cars and now we know a little more about the important service they provide the Orthodox community.
