Serving Larchmont Village, Hancock Park, and the Greater Wilshire neighborhoods of Los Angeles since 2011.

Ahh…late August in Hancock Park…

The gardens in the neighborhood are simply glorious in their second bloom.  Traffic is lighter and the kids are threatening to return to school.  Parents are scrambling in preparation.

The 19th Annual “Taste of Larchmont” was a big success Monday night and raised a substantial amount of money for Hope-Net again.   I adore the sounds of the steel drums, the sights of friends pushing strollers and greeting one another while Simon pours “Fresita”, the most divine sparkling wine with fresh strawberries.

But the greatest attribute of our neighborhood in the summer months is the close proximity to the Hollywood Bowl!  For me, it is THE best place in the city for summertime sippin’.

I have a box for a handful of Tuesday nights and while I love to cook, the truth is I’m a working girl and it’s busy these days!  Thankfully I can rely on the Larchmont LarderJoan’s on 3rd or Whole Foods to help me in a pinch.   The fun is visiting Jill at Domaine LA or Simon at Larchmont Village Wine & Cheese and pairing wines.   Jill out did herself last week with an artichoke pairing and that’s no easy task!

Joanne & Wiley Pickett of Pickett Fences insist that taking a cab is the best way to go.  From Brookside it is ~$15 each way and they don’t fuss with parking at all.  At the last song they walk down to the fountain and catch a cab home.  In bed by 11pm!

Janet & Mark Rohman have a Saturday night box and Janet always cooks.  Each year Janet hunts for festive linens and plastic dinnerware that completes the perfect picnic.  A picture speaks a thousand words….

For the Rohman’s it’s cocktails, dinner and dessert before the show.  A 6:30pm prompt departure, up Cahuenga, is a must.

Carolyn & Jamie Bennett have a Thursday night box and insist that their guests all meet at their house by 6:00pm sharp and drive together.  For Jamie, taking Gower is the only way.  Once he crosses Highland to access Parking Lot A on the hill, he has his special strategy for getting into the prime shoot to leave without being blocked.  The Bennett’s prefer to use half-time to mingle and say hello to friends.

For Judy & Gary Gilbert it’s a 6pm sharp departure and they head up Cahuenga, under the 101 and cross Highland into lot A 620.  Their game is creating a menu to match the theme of the show.

How do you do the Bowl?
