Hancock Park part-time resident Manny Pacquiao is in the final weeks of training for his November 12th fight against Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas. Â His pre-fight ritual includes a final few weeks of training with his LA based trainer, Freddy Roach, at Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club on Vine Street.
The Wall Street Journal did a great article about the pre-fight cocoon that Pacquiao’s trainer, friends and family build in support of Manny. Â And all of it takes place just up the street from our neighborhood at Vine and Santa Monica!

Be sure to watch this video…it will give you a view to the compound like structure the mini-mall becomes during the pre-fight weeks. Â Also, when you look from the street, it’s kind of hard to imagine a boxing club in there…the video certainly helps to fill in the gaps!
So when your husband volunteers to head to the Pavilions this weekend – you’ll have to wonder if he’s heading up Vine to sneak a peek?
By the way, we spoke to the gym – Pacquiao’s sessions at the gym are closed. Â In addition, the gym is closed to members only – membership details are outlined on the Wild Card Boxing Club Website (hint – it’s $50 per month/$5 per day).
