The Loyola High School Varsity Basketball team is ranked #8 in the country in the CBS Sports/Max Preps.com Poll– higher than the team has been ranked since the late ’80s. Behind the leadership of Coach Jamal Adams, the team is 8-0 heading in to this week’s Georgetown Prep National Jesuit Christmas Classic in North Bethesda, Maryland.

As the team travels to the Washington, DC Area tournament to take on a minimum of 3 of 7 other Jesuit High School basketball teams in the tourney, Loyola fans have the opportunity to follow the team via an audio feed presented by Loyola High School’s Athletic Department.

The concept of live audio broadcasts for Loyola sporting events developed this year as Windsor Square resident and ’06 Loyola HS grad, Ryan Stanbury, suggested that he had the passion and skill-set to bring live play-by-play for Loyola sports to life.

Stanbury earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus in Communications, from the University of California Riverside. He puts his experience broadcasting UC Riverside basketball games to work for Loyola Cubs fans throughout the Loyola HS network of students, parents and alumni. To date, Stanbury has broadcast play-by-play for the last two Loyola High School basketball games this season – entertaining an average of 250 listeners per game! That’s an impressive start and is certain to grow as the Cubs get deeper into what is expected to be a strong season.

Catch the Loyola Cubs as they tip off against Tacoma, Washington’s Bellarmine Preparatory School  on Wednesday at 1:30p Pacific. Local fans can listen to the game live on U-Stream by following this link. Enjoy the voice of Loyola sports, Ryan Stanbury, as he delivers the play-by-play direct from the Hanley Center in North Bethesda, Maryland!
