Be forewarned if you head to the Original Farmer’s Market with a child in tow: Dylan’s Candy Bar is open. The east coast transplant has opened 1,200 square feet of sugary delights molded and melted into 7,000 different types of candy from all over the world, all featured in a hyped-up, shiny plastic store that belts out candy-themed music and smells like sugar. Think of the cavities to be created, the waistlines to be expanded and the hyperactivity that will be generated!
We’ve known a number of LA kids who make Dylan’s in Manhattan an essential stop for any east coast trip, so we’re frankly not surprised owner Dylan Lauren, daughter of clothing designer Ralph Lauren, is opening her first West coast store right here in the Hancock Park area. Situated in the former location of Bath & Body Works, Dylan’s will be just a stone’s throw from the American Girl Doll store, and steps from Kip’s Toyland, in other words, making this area a virtual Mecca for young kids in the neighborhood. According to Dylan’s, the shop is a “candy lifestyle brand” that will “awaken the creative spirit and inner child in everyone” while also offering limited fashion accessories, jewelry and skincare products. How will they work that merch in alongside all the sticky sweets? You’ll have to stop in for a bag of sour gummy worms to see.Dylan’s Candy Bar 6333 W.
