Creative Work Space at La Brea and First Street

For the past several weeks, we’ve wondered what the units on La Brea and First are all about…is it a film set? Is it a pop-up M*A*S*H unit? Maybe a super-hip club?

Mystery solved – the two WW II naval barracks are actually the headquarters for Matt Winter Design. He calls the set-up Post 42.

Each structure provides 554 square feet of space. That’s plenty of room for Winter to work, consult clients and conduct meetings.  According to Matt, his design style is timeless – he finds unconventional ways of creating space that is both warm and engaging. He specializes in interior design for bars and restaurants.

The naval barracks are made of corrugated steel with douglas fir floors.  Everything about Post 42 is transportable – so when it comes time for Matt to move on, he’ll be able to set up his business elsewhere pretty easily.

There’s actually a parking lot yearning to be set free underneath the metal barracks.  The parking lot will serve the District La Brea shopping area once the northern part of that development is complete (see LarchmontBuzz post – La Brea Rising, 10/9/11).

Post 42 will curate/host several events in the coming months.  If you are interested in knowing more about Matt Winter Design, reach out to Matt via email or cell – [email protected] or 310-869-3206. He’s a 27 year-old newlywed, entrepreneur worth getting to know. (Meetings by appointment only.  Website under design.)
