This month on the food front, seven of the ten establishments listed in Los Angeles Magazine’s Insider’s Guide to the Best New Restaurants are within a 15-20 minute drive of the Hancock Park area. For the moment, we just might live in the hub of new and newsworthy eateries.
The list is eclectic in taste: go west on Wilshire for Red Medicine (Vietnamese) or north to Mezze (Mediterranean) on La Cienega. It features Son of a Gun (seafood) on 3rd, Ray’s (California) at LACMA and of course Ink (Modern American) up on Melrose. A bit further afield, but not by much, are two new spots on Pico at Beverly Drive: Sotto (Italian) and Picca (Peruvian) which are ranked #1 and #4 and are getting lots of attention.
The list is worth checking out – if only to add to your smart phone so the next time you’re struggling to show off to your foodie uncle from New York or your best friend’s parents – you’ll try one of the 10 best newbies. They aren’t far away!
