Live and Local: Lucinda Williams Two Nights at El Rey

Friends often ask us to let them know when someone really good is coming to town…so they can catch them in a small venue and enjoy great talent in a place where they are still accessible.

Miracle Mile’s El Rey Theater welcomes multi-Grammy winner Lucinda Williams for two dates this week – Tuesday 11/22 and Wednesday 11/23. Williams is is an American folk-rock/country artist with a long history of great music. With songs like “Can’t Let Go” and “Are You Alright”, catching her live would be a perfect night out. Tickets are still available.

The El Rey venue is about as local as it gets – 700 person capacity, easy access on Wilshire at Burnside. It’s very up close and personal.

And we’re going to let you in on how we do events at the El Rey…

  • buy tickets at the theater a few nights before the show if you can…tickets for Lucinda Williams are $40.  Ticketmaster will charge you an additional $13.  If you get your tickets at the theater, you don’t pay the surcharge and you can pay for dinner or drinks with the savings (theater is only open when another event is happening)
  • park down Wilshire a little ways and walk back (we actually park on Masselin, south of Wilshire…lots of security cameras on the adjacent buildings and it’s free).
  • check El Rey Theater Facebook page the day of the event – they’ll usually tell you what time the artist goes on stage
  • don’t miss the opening acts if you can help it…we’ve seen all kinds of great talent prior to the band we came for
  • you can be home in 5 minutes…so live a little and put some live music in your life!
