If ever a weekend screamed “Summer is Over”, this is it! Â Everyone is back in the groove and all social pistons seem to be firing. Â It’s not often that we will suggest to spend the entire weekend in Hollywood, but this weekend just seems to be one of those times!
FEAST OF SAN GENNARO – HOLLYWOOD, Friday September 23rd – Sunday September 25th (see scheduled hours)
This weekend marks the 9th Annual Los Angeles celebration of The Feast of San Gennaro. Â This event has moved around a few times but has found a home in recent years in the parking lots/alley south of Hollywood Boulevard – behind the El Capitan and The Jimmy Kimmel Theater.
For those of us who grew up in the Greater New York area, big Italian festivals are a familiar memory from our youth.  Thanks to Jimmy Kimmel, founder and co-host of the Festival, we can enjoy all things Italian, all weekend long!  You can look forward to a celebration of  Italian culture, food and entertainment; featuring live music, street performers, strolling musicians, a kid’s corner, and many rides and games. In addition to sampling wine from local wineries and food from some of Los Angeles’ best Italian restaurants, guests are invited to learn recipes from the cooking stage and play bocce ball and bingo with some of Hollywood’s Italian-American celebrities and much more!
Tickets prices vary…for more information, go to the official FEAST OF SAN GENNARO Website! Â Of course, all of this is produced to benefit a good cause…The San Gennaro Foundation, a non-profit established to aid children and families in need in the Greater Los Angeles area.
See you there!
SING-A-LONG SOUND OF MUSIC – HOLLYWOOD BOWL, Saturday September 24th 6P Pre-Show; 7:30P Movie
The Hollywood Bowl provides the perfect setting for the annual BIG screen projection of the beloved, classic movie – The Sound of Music.  Melissa Peterman will once again host the pre-movie costume parade.  The parade is an experience in and of itself.  This is a great family event – one that we committed to doing again this year after having such a great time last year.  Special treat…all five original actresses who played the von Trapp daughters – Charmian Carr (Liesl), Heather Menzies Urich (Louisa), Angela Cartwright (Brigitta), Debbie Turner (Marta) and Kym Karath (Gretl) – will be making an appearance at this Saturday’s Sing-a-long Sound of Music.
Tickets are still available – click here or head to the bowl box office. Â The Hollywood Bowl management/parking attendants allow you to briefly park near the box office to get tickets hours prior to the show.
CHICK-FIL-A GRAND OPENING!Â
Last, but not least…the Hollywood Chick-fil-A is celebrating a Grand Opening weekend!
Did you know it was coming? Â Finally, the popular chicken haunt is within 8-10 minutes of home. Â We can hear the neighborhood cows mooing their approval.
Chick-fil-A is on the southeast corner of Hollywood and Highland…where there used to be a combination Carl’s Jr./Green Burrito. Â Quite an upgrade! Â Be among the first to try the new Chick-fil-A. Â Expect lines all weekend…
So load up the mini-van, hop in the Lexus sedan or catch the MTA #212 bus … and make your way north to experience any of these fun happenings. (Note – Chick-Fil-A is not open on Sundays).
