On Sunday, June 16, Greenway Arts and the Mid City West Neighborhood Council will host a community celebration of Black Freedom, Resilience and Joy. The event will be held at Melrose Trading Post, adjacent to Greenway Court Theatre and on the campus of Fairfax High School. Black musicians, poets, authors, artists, dancers, creative small business owners and community organizations will gather for a wide range of programming and vendors.
On the Greenway Main Stage, the line-up includes storytelling by authors Alexus Mozell & Aiysha Sinclair, musical performances by Sydney Raneé and Kovey Coles, dance performances by the Fairfax High School Dance Company and African Dance company, live painting by Devin Wesley, numerous poetry readings and even a healing sound bath by Cranes Studio. Sampson McCormick serves as master of ceremonies.
Vendors include Eclectuals Book Market, Rhinestone Master Creations, Nena’s Organics, African Charm, WEPA Beauty and others. Participating organizations and community groups include Walk Good LA, Destination Little Ethiopia and D.B. Foundation.
