About Us – Larchmont Buzz

Larchmont Village in Los Angeles is as close as you can get to a perfect place to live. Nestled in the heart of LA, Larchmont is the calm smile between frantic downtown and the congested West Side; we lie cheek-to-jowl with Wilshire Blvd’s Miracle Mile; and provide the firm chin to Hollywood’s wild face to the north.

To celebrate all that is the Larchmont, Hancock Park and the Greater Wilshire area we’ve created a beehive of activity and interconnectivity called the Larchmont Buzz. Here you’ll find news about people and events in the neighborhood. We  write original features and aggregate news from other sources, all of it LOCAL!

We hope you’ll sign up for our free, non-invasive, once-a-day email that gives you an overview of the day’s stories.  Share your thoughts via our comment forms and put your events in our Calendar.  Send us your story ideas and share the Buzz with others who live in this sweet spot of Los Angeles – Larchmont Village.

Contributing Writers:

Patricia Lombard, current co-owner and publisher of the Buzz, is a long-time area resident, active in her Fremont Place neighborhood association and in the larger community. She has been active in neighborhood issues since moving here in 1989. Her pictorial history, “Larchmont” for Arcadia Press is available at Chevalier’s Books. Patty can be reached at [email protected].

Elizabeth Fuller, the other current co-owner and publisher of the Buzz, was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN but has lived in LA since 1991 – first in the Sycamore Square neighborhood, and since 2012 in West Adams Heights/Sugar Hill. She was a founder of the Sycamore Square Neighborhood Association in 2005, and is currently on the Board of the West Adams Heights/Sugar Hill Neighborhood Association. She also spent 10 years with the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council (serving as a board member, secretary, treasurer and administrator, among other positions), and also volunteers at Wilshire Crest Elementary School. You can reach her at [email protected].

Julie Grist, one of the Buzz’s two founders, was raised climbing apple trees in Appleton Wisconsin, then worked in Asia and New York before settling down in the Larchmont area which she loves for its sense of community and beautiful architecture.  Julie also writes, shoots photos, and dabbles in design, publishing and painting, works for historic preservation, and served on her neighborhood association Board for too many years. She loves hiking in the hills and is the scullery maid and bottle-washer for a family of five who complain she never sits down. Julie can be reached at [email protected].

Mary Hawley, the other Buzz founder, lived in the Hancock Park area for more than 20 years – including homes in Larchmont Village and Windsor Square. Mary has lived in some great places in her life – but none compare to the convenience and majesty of the Larchmont area. For Mary, the neighborhood has been a wonderful home to her large, extended family…at one time she had family members living on seven different Hancock Park area blocks. Mary can be reached at [email protected]

We also have many other occasional writers. If you would like to contribute to the Larchmont Buzz and build your online portfolio, please contact us at [email protected].Â
