This week Los Angeles Magazine reflects on ‘LA Confidential’, one of the many Oscar winning films shot on location in Hancock Park. The film is a 1997 neo-noir detective film based on James Ellroy’s 1990 novel of the same title…it hardly seems possible you can live in LA and not have seen it. Â It has a 99% rating on the film review site Rotten Tomatoes.
The film was shot all over LA, but a few of the most memorable scenes were set in and around our neighborhood… including scenes at the Formosa Cafe and at this home on Wilcox Avenue.  Click over to Los Angeles Magazine’s CityThink story Scene it Before: Lynn Bracken’s House from L.A. Confidential. Author Lindsay Blake’s reflections on the home and the pivotal role it plays in the film validate the feeling I get every time I drive by. You can almost picture a young Kim Basinger living inside – Oscar on the shelf – waiting for Amazon Fresh to deliver her groceries.
