When you’re driving north on La Brea from the 10 Freeway in the evening and you pass by the 76 Station on the north west corner of La Brea and Venice – do you ever wonder what the crowd is gathered for? Is it just another food truck? With a crowd the size of the one that gathers each night, it stands to reason that something special is going on. Now we know just how special…
This week LAist released their list of the  Best Tacos in LA and near the top you’ll find Leo’s Tacos. Leo’s is a stationary taco truck that operates on the southern half of the gas station property (which is non-operational for gas). They are known for their al pastor – and after watching the video below, you’ll know why. Al pastor is pork that is marinated for a couple of days in dried chiles and then slowly cooked with a gas flame on a ‘trompo’. Diced onions, cilantro and a piece of pineapple tops off the taco on a small tortilla. The al pastor tacos are $1.

They have 3 trucks, which can be found on their site’s truck finder – www.leostacotruck.com/locations. The La Brea Location is open Sun-Thurs: 9am-3am & Fri-Sat: 9am-4am. Our other locations are open 5pm – 3am & 4am weekends, respectively. All 3 locations are stationary all week long.
According to Leo’s, their most popular order is 5 Tacos Al Pastor. Followed by the 4 Tacos Al Pastor & 2 more for Round 2. Although their specialty is al pastor, all their other meats are also solid and ordered equally, with the Asada being very popular.
They also offer Hand Made Tortilla Tacos ($2.50), which completely redefines their Taco Al Pastor. There’s an upcoming special on Blackboardeats.com with a deal on this meal. Look out for it sometime in August.
Special note…when your eyes (and then your stomach) awaken to the taco trucks on La Brea, you will notice El Chato on the corner of La Brea and Olympic. They were included in the LA Weekly list of Best LA Tacos that was released earlier in the year. El Chato is opened Tu-Th 9p-1:30a; F-Sa 9p-3:30a. Â Facebook – facebook.com/ElChatoTacoTruck.
There’s a small crowd at the corner of La Brea & Olympic every night. Not sure what cuisine they serve.
