Larchmont Fair is Tomorrow

Visit the Buzz at the Larchmont Family Fair tomorrow from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

The Larchmont Family Fair is tomorrow! The street will be closed to traffic starting at 5 a.m. and the Sunday Farmers will still happen in the city parking lot, but it will be a smaller version and it will happen during the same hours as the fair, 12 noon to 5 p.m.

We’ve been getting ready to host our earth-friendly booth all week – can you tell we’re excited? You can find us in our bright floral tent. Bring your plastic film (grocery bags, ziplock bags, Amazon mailers, dry cleaner bags & more) bags and wrappers for recycling with our booth buddy, Jon Lagardere, Community Launcher for Ridwell recycling. We are thrilled to partner with Ridwell, which will make sure the plastic gets responsibly recycled with their partner Trex. To date, Ridwell has helped divert more than 15 million pounds from the waste stream!

Since this is the perfect time to plant in your garden, we will have all the elements you need to make a seed bomb filled with California poppy seeds and other native plant seeds to toss in your garden. When it starts to rain, the seeds will begin to germinate and you will have your very own superbloom this spring. At least we hope you will!

And finally, you can pick up a kitchen compost pail, if you don’t already have one, limit one per household. Thanks to LASAN, we will have 50 pails at our booth tomorrow. Pails are free for Los Angeles residents and all you have to do is give us your name and address. which we will share with LASAN and no one else!

There are also a lot of other fun events happening tomorrow.

Local residents and foodies
Daphne Brogdon, Sal Marino, Heather Fogarty, and Buzz food writer Deborah Brooks will be judging the pies at the Loveland Carr Pie contest.

“Janet, Sue and I are excited to present these community and food lovers,” Anne Loveland told the Buzz. “What’s better than gathering around the table and sharing?!”

It’s not too late to enter! Click here for more information.

Levain Bakery will be giving out stickers for kids and will have a balloon artist outside the bakery from 1 – 4 p.m.

Tailwaggers will be hosting a super duper pet adoption in its parking lot during the Fair day for anyone looking for a forever best friend. Tailwaggers has invited a handful of very reputable rescues to participate in the event, hoping to find forever homes for these deserving cats and dogs.

The Family Fair stage is packed with events. Our very own Romi Cortier and Recio Young will serve as the Masters of Ceremonies. Cortier, who serves on the Larchmont Boulevard Association Board and is the Business representative for the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council, told the Buzz, “The LBA looks forward to a beautiful afternoon of Fun For Everyone. It’s our 56th annual Family Fair, and we can’t wait to welcome you and your family. We even have new Larchmont merch that we hope you’ll love, and all proceeds will be reinvested in our efforts to beautify Larchmont.”

Here’s the schedule for the stage:

12:00 – 12:30 pm – Sophie’s Dance Studio
12:30 – 12:45 p.m. Loveland Carr Pie Baking Contest
1:00 – 2:00 pm – Costume Contest Ages 0-18 (come to the side of the stage at 12:30 for lining up) medals for winners of each age group & candy for everyone that participates)
2:00 – 3:00 pm – Larchmont’s Got Talent
4:00 – 5:00 pm – Black Canyon Band

Bob Baker Marionettes will be walking around the Fair too.

The City parking lot will be transformed into a food court featuring the following vendors:

Aloha Catering and Kettle Corn
Aro Chili
Bao Bao Express
Cousins Maine Lobster
King of Kettle Corn
Los Lobos Mexican Food
Me Gusta Tamales
Oono Sushi
Pupsas Delmy
Teppangles

The Beer Garden is back, with M Special Brewery, offering three different beers: American Lager, IPA, and Tangerine Blonde, thanks to owner Brendan Malloy.

And, be sure to check out all the booths. This year, the booths will be placed back to back, opening the street for easier access to the sidewalks and Larchmont’s businesses, many of which are also participating in the fair.

The Larchmont Family Fair is produced by volunteers at the Larchmont Boulevard Association, whose members include businesses and property owners on the street. Proceeds from the Fair are invested in security and beatification of the boulevard. Special thanks to everyone who has stepped up to support the fair.
